Constructing a bridge encompass a lot of skills in many fields; mechanical, geology, electrical, computer science and civil engineering. And trying to mix these efforts is essential to have an accurate result.
The primary plans of this project are set up first. There are many types of bridges; the main types are beam, truss, arch, suspension, and cantilever. The beam type is the most popular type. We can even differ between types of bridges by planned use such as pavement, rail bridge and material used. There are also fixed and moveable bridges, the moveable one is built to have the ability to raise up to let the ships move beneath it if the ship is higher than the bridge.
Construction of the foundation is the first and most important step in constructing a bridge, the type of foundation must be selected first like pile foundation and well foundation. every type of foundation is suitable for a type of soil, in addition to the specification of the specified bridge. And we must consider the bearing load on the foundation and start doing a necessary excavation on suitable depths and before the solid rocks we start digging to avoid the water.
Tunnels specially could face sudden failures. In construction of upper part heavy equipments are used such as bulldozers, asphalt mixers, and excavators, these equipments are very expensive, they should not stay idle and they must be used carefully to have the maximum advantage of them. Bridge construction is a very expensive project, so the all parts must be tested and the bridge must be investigated under dynamic loads using computer software, these tests must be done before the process of construction.
