‘Instagram Versus Real Life’ Awareness Campaign By TikToker Goes Viral (20 Pics)

Holly Cockerill is trying to show the world in her own way to love and respect themselves. Her story began, as she narrated to Bored Panda Sources, when she used to thumb through social media looking at Instagram and feeling bad about herself in comparison. But then she realized that what she was looking at was fake. The perfect lives that were portrayed and the ‘perfect’ selfies didn’t really exist.

So now Holly is trying to prove to the world that many of these photos shared on social media are photoshopped and fake. She wants everyone to know just how much a picture of a person can be heavily edited to show almost an entirely different expression. From changing her body shape, to face shape, to eye shape, to hairstyle, Holly portraits herself and her partner in heavily edited images which she shares on her platform with before and after images showing a comparison to the original. Her goal is to create awareness that people can and do, heavily edit their social media pictures and that they set unrealistic beauty standards as a result.
