19 Historical Photos That Caused A Public Outcry

There is a huge gap between the world that we live in and how it was before several decades ago. With time, several things have taken a new face and many things have changed. Now most of us have the liberty to take any decision that we want, to wear any dress that we like and simply we all have the freedom to do the things that we desire.

But the world was not this smooth and soft before several decades ago. Wearing a mini skirt or a swimsuit in public was considered as a crime and people were restricted in doing what their hearts desire. Going out of the restricted order created chaos and we thought of sharing some pictures with you which will show you how the world functioned in the early days.

#1. In 1967, Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to run the Boston Marathon. It happened 5 years before the women were allowed to take part in it. in this picture, an organizer is trying to take her away.

#2. English supermodel Jean Shrimpton is wearing a minidress during the races in Melbourne. Her outfit caused a real outcry among the guests in 1965.

#15. Hedy Lamarr was an American film actress and inventor who ruined stereotypes about beautiful women and science. Thanks to her invention, nowadays we have cellular communication.

#16. Members of the “Women’s organization to the w@@@r on styles” picketed a dress shop in protest of longer skirts and padded hips. (California, 1947).

#17. Rosa Parks had her fingerprints taken after her arrest because she refused to go to the back of a bus “for white people” (Alabama, 1956).

#19. Paul Poiret was a French fashion designer who set women free from corsets.
