These Indonesian Tribespeople Have A Rare Genetic Condition That Turns Their Eyes Bright Blue (10 Pics)

Korchnoi Pasaribu is an Indonesian geologist and photographer who recently traveled to the small island of Buton to photograph some of the local tribespeople. Some of the island’s natives are affected by a rare genetic condition called the Waardenburg syndrome that gives them one very distinctive feature – incredibly bright and blue eyes.

In a recent interview with Bored Panda, Korchnoi said he has known the tribespeople since 2019. However, he only went to photograph them on September of this year and added that he was very happy to finally take their photos.
