Tattoo Artist Creates Intricate Textured Designs (20 Pics)

His hybrid creative studio is focused on streetwear, music, design, and tattoos. He admitted in an interview with Demilked that he only did fine line work when he first started tattooing because he wanted to become used to the skin, needle, and ink before experimenting with different techniques. After a year of practice, I began experimenting with other methods and, in response to a client’s request to add shade to one of my drawings, I discovered the dotwork effect that I now use. I was pleasantly pleased by how much I liked the obtained gritty texture, and it changed the direction of my future tattooing,”

Velco also said, “The effect gave me the feel of the beautiful vintage, grainy texture in images captured with a film camera and since then, I’ve been working on designs where I can integrate this effect.” Check out some of his wonderful tattoos in the gallery below.

Talking about his inspiration, Velco said, “My main inspiration when drawing has been coming from me trying to express my feelings, thoughts and experiences that I find myself living at the moment as well as from the conversations that I’ve had the pleasure to share with my clients. Everyone that has been coming to get a tattoo with me has shared snapshots of their lives and realities which have influenced the way I now perceive my own life”

The artist further elaborated, “The ambiance of where I’m drawing is very important for me; from the lighting, sounds and aroma in the environment. All of these elements help me get lost in my internal universe and help me let out what I need to communicate with myself and with the world.”

“The window frames that I’ve been designing and tattooing have been a product that; a portal to another reality. And it’s beautiful to know that there are now multiple portals wondering around the world providing us with glances to other universes,” he added.
