A lot of people find difficulties reading a physical map. Indeed they can be a little bit confusing, especially when it comes to comparing sizes. Since earth is spherical there’s no unified method for projection. However, the most common one so far the we recognize is the Mercator projection, suggested by georgrapher and cartographer Gerardus Mercator in 1569.
