5 Famous Brands Change Their Logos To Show The Importance Of Social Distancing

If there’s something doctors can’t stress enough these days, it’s social distancing. That means keeping a certain distance from other people when out in public and generally spending as little time outside as possible. Even some big companies joined in to really drive the message home.

McDonald’s, Audi, Volkswagen, Coca Cola and Chiquita all altered their logos to highlight the importance of social distancing and it’s amazing to see how they managed to get the point across with just a few minor changes. Check out the altered logos in the gallery below!

McDonald’s separated its iconic golden arches

Brian Braiker, the editor-in-chief of Ad Age said that some well known brands made efforts to support healthcare workers during these tough times. For example, Gap started making face masks and fashion brands like Dior and Givenchy started manufacturing hand sanitizer.

Audi’s interlocked rings came apart

However, he was not entirely impressed by some companies’ choices to alter their logos. “Understanding the situation, shutting up and doing something helpful is really the only way to go here,” said Braiker. “When you see brands like McDonald’s or Coca-Cola spacing out their logos in ‘solidarity,’ it strikes a sour note.”

Volkswagen altered their logo as well

Both Volkswagen and Audi shared videos on their social media accounts encouraging people to keep their social distance and support each other.

“Staying apart is the best way to stay united,” says Coca Cola’s latest series of advertisements.

Even Chiquita, a producer and distributor of bananas and other fruit, joined the effort and removed the iconic “Miss Chiquita” from their logo, writing “I’m already home. Please do the same and protect yourself. #stayhome” under the Instagram post.
